Effective September 2026
Privacy notice
THE OG is a public registry by design. This notice explains the narrow set of data needed to keep the ledger, checkout, search, and visit counts working.
Data we receive
We receive listing URLs or handles, category choices, optional descriptions and logo files, payment amounts, and Stripe Checkout identifiers. Stripe processes payment-card and checkout contact data under its own privacy terms; THE OG does not store full card numbers.
Public information
Listing titles, descriptions, images, domains, categories, amounts, ranks, payment times, crown history, and click totals are publicly displayed. Submitted pages may be fetched once to obtain public metadata such as a title, description, favicon, or social image.
Technical information
The service processes network address and request information for security, rate limiting, visitor counts, approximate online counts, and hourly click de-duplication. A sessionStorage marker prevents repeat page-view beacons during the same browser session. Local storage may remember theme choice, claim and Categorizer drafts, viewed-throne snapshots, dismissed alerts, and a defense link on the device.
How data is used
Data is used to process claims, calculate rankings, maintain archives, display public activity, prevent duplicate payment processing, measure visits, enforce rules, and protect the service. If you use the Categorizer, the business description and nearby category names are sent to Google Gemini to produce a proposal; proposal inputs and results are retained for abuse review. We do not install third-party analytics.
Sharing and retention
Data is shared with service providers when necessary to run the service, including Stripe for payments, Google for optional Categorizer requests, and hosting or database providers for infrastructure. Unpaid uploaded logos expire after 24 hours. Public registry entries and frozen archives may be retained as part of the historical record; security and request records may be retained for operational needs.
Your choices
You can clear browser storage at any time to remove saved preferences, drafts, snapshots, alerts, and defense-link copies from that device. Public paid-placement records are integral to the product and may remain in the historical ledger, subject to legal obligations and moderation rights.
